Dr. Creston Burse

Deputy Director

Dr. Creston Burse, a Jackson, MS native and 50 Under Fifty: Mississippi’s Top Urban Elite Professionals honoree, is a seasoned technology and leadership professional. A product of Jackson Public Schools and an early member of the Jackson Mayor’s Youth Council, he holds degrees from Mississippi State University, Harding University (MBA), and a doctorate in Strategic Foresight from Regent University. Dr. Burse has built a diverse career in IT and cybersecurity, serving in roles such as Network Engineer, IT Project Manager for the Mississippi Department of Information Technology, and Chief Information Security Officer at MINACT, Inc. He currently serves as Chief Information Officer for Ellucian at Tougaloo College and sits on the board of The Bean Path, part of the vision for the JXN Tech District. Dr. Burse is also the founder of the Bemae Group, which focuses on technology, strategic foresight, education, and policy. A dedicated community leader, he is active in Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, 100 Black Men of Jackson, and multiple civic and professional organizations. Dr. Burse lives in Madison, MS with his wife, Dr. Nakeitra Burse, and their two sons, always remembering his roots on Utah St., 39213.
