The Makerspace is the home of Bean Path. It is Jackson's premier STEAM Hub & Community workshop for all.

What is The Makerspace?

The Makerspace is a collaborative, community workshop space designed to engage, inspire & empower Jackson in S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math).

What can I do there?

Do you want to make an app or furniture, games or clothing, virtual reality or arts & crafts? We are here for every Jacksonian's creative needs!

How can I join?

Membership Benefits & Levels

Individual  Or Family Membership Benefits

  1. Shared Tools and Equipment:

    • Access to tools and machinery that you might not have at home, such as 3D printers, laser cutters, woodworking tools, and more.

    • Use these resources to work on personal projects, prototypes, or creative endeavors.

      1. Makers encouraged to bring their own materials (staff can direct members on what and where they can be purchase)

      2. Makerspace to have inventory of materials that can be purchased by members

    • Members can schedule time with Makerspace staff to work on projects

    • Members WHO ARE TRAINED may check in to use equipment with staff available if they need help or assistance

  2. Collaborative Environment:

    • Makerspaces encourage a sense of community and collaboration.

    • Interact with other makers, share ideas, and learn from each other.

    • Collaborate on group projects or seek advice from experienced members.

  3. Skill Development:

    • Learn new skills and techniques related to making, crafting, and building.

    • Attend workshops, classes, and demonstrations organized by the makerspace.

    • Enhance your abilities and explore different areas of interest.

  4. Networking Opportunities:

    • Connect with like-minded individuals who share your passion for making.

    • Attend events, meetups, and social gatherings.

    • Build a network of contacts within the maker community.

  5. Workspace and Storage:

    • Access to a dedicated workspace where you can set up your projects for allotted time.

    • Availability of personal material storage space

  6. Community Events and Activities:

    • Participate in hackathons, design challenges, and themed events.

    • Showcase your work, collaborate on group projects, and celebrate creativity.

  7. Support and Guidance:

    • Seek advice from experienced members or mentors.

    • Troubleshoot issues, get feedback, and learn from others’ experiences.

Day Pass Membership Benefits

  1. Access to Facilities:

    • You’ll have access to the makerspace’s facilities during i

    • ts operating hours.

    • Use shared tools, equipment, and workspaces to pursue your projects.

    • Schedule one-on-one time with makerspace staff (schedule day pass ahead of time) - This will require a calendar be made available on the website and people be able to register for open spots on calendar (staff be scheduled by what area/equipment is being requested)

    • Untrained members will require one-on=one time with staff to run machinery.

    • All members to pass competency with makerspace staff before using equipment on their own

  2. Workspace:

    • Set up your workspace for the day.

    • Work on personal projects, collaborate with others, or experiment with new techniques.

  3. Tool Usage:

    • Utilize available tools and machinery.

    • Whether it’s 3D printing, woodworking, or electronics, explore the resources at your disposal.

  4. Skill Development:

    • Attend any of that days workshops or classes for 20% off

    • Learn from experienced members or participate in skill-building activities.

  5. Community Interaction:

    • Engage with fellow makers.

    • Share ideas, seek advice, and collaborate on mini-projects.

  6. Networking:

    • Connect with other creatives.

    • Exchange knowledge, experiences, and inspiration.

  7. Time Limit:

    • Remember that your access is limited to the day you purchase the pass.
