The Bean Path is turning 7 years old—and we’re celebrating with a week-long experience that honors our journey, our community, and the future of tech in Mississippi!
For seven years, The Bean Path has been planting seeds of innovation, mentorship, and opportunity—bridging the tech gap in Jackson and beyond. From robotics clubs and coding classes to entrepreneurship programs and senior tech training, our mission has always been simple: cultivate networks and fertilize communities. Now, it’s time to celebrate the impact we’ve made together.

Anniversary Week Schedule
Monday, October 13 · 11:30 AM–2 PM · Bean Path Makerspace
We’re starting the week by honoring the heart of our community—our members! Membership Monday is a chance to connect, collaborate, and celebrate while enjoying soup and sandwiches with our staff.
Highlights:
Bring a project to finish—or start something brand new
Network and fellowship with fellow members
Learn about Bean Path memberships (with 50% off any paid classes for members starting October 1)
Tuesday, October 14 · 4–6 PM · Bean Path Makerspace
Our version of an afterschool program, STEAM Tuesday is designed to spark creativity in kids and families. Hands-on STEAM activities, snacks, and a peek into the world of robotics make this a can’t-miss event for young innovators.
Highlights:

Explore coding, crafting, and robotics
Robotics team recruiting new coders, builders, drivers, and creators
Wednesday, October 15 · Noon–5 PM · Bean Path Makerspace & Bean Barn
The future of tech meets friendly competition at Jackson’s first-ever AWS DeepRacer Competition, hosted in partnership with local colleges and universities. Students train AI-powered race cars in a virtual simulator, then bring them to life on a real track. Lunch provided for all competitors and attendees.

Hands-on experience with AI, machine learning, and cloud tech

Cheer on local colleges as they race their autonomous cars
Thursday, October 16 · 10 AM–12 PM · Bean Path Makerspace
We’re celebrating our 5th cohort of Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) graduates—older adults who’ve completed 10 weeks of digital skills training. Family, friends, and the community are invited to support these inspiring learners.
Highlights:
Celebrate older adults achieving new tech milestones
Certificates presented to graduates
Free food and community fellowship
Friday, October 17 · Noon · Virtual & Livestream
Take a walk down memory lane with Dr. Amber Avery-Johnson, Ivan Walker, and Dr. Nashlie Sephus as they reflect on The Bean Path’s beginnings, growth, and future. Hosted by Maranda Joiner, this inspiring conversation explores how technology has evolved and how Bean Path continues to lead the way.

We’re wrapping up the week with a block party like no other! Bring the whole family for free food, fun, and festivities celebrating seven years of impact.

Hands-on activities for all ages
Free fried fish (while it lasts!)
Walk-through Bean Path History Exhibit showcasing our journey
