OATS (Older Adults Technology Services) Program at Bean Path

OATS aims to empower older adults with the tools and training necessary to take advantage of today’s technology and use it to enrich their lives.

Bean Path partners with OATS (Older Adults Technology Services), an AARP-affiliated organization that engages, trains, and supports older adults in using technology to improve their quality of life and enhance their social and civic engagement.

What We Do

The program allows older adults, 60 years and up, to engage with a dynamic mix of offerings to achieve measurable change in one or more areas of their lives: financial security, social engagement, creative expression, health and wellness, and civic participation.

In addition to structured 10-week courses, programming also includes special events, high-quality online content, and participant-driven interactive activities. The Older Adults enjoy learning about technology while fellowshipping with their neighbors.

Testimonials

“When I first came, I didn’t want to get on the computer, but now I'm on it at work and at home. It has opened up a new world for me and now I don’t have to wait on anyone to help me. I like to write poetry, so I use Google a lot to help me look up topics and subjects that I want to write about.I’ve been telling people about this program and now two people from my church want to come. I tell them that the people here are patient with you. They want to work with you. We actually have a senior citizens group at our church called the Sterling Senior Citizens. I’ve taken what I’ve learned back to them and now I’m hoping they will all sign up for the OATS program.”
