2022 Portia Powell STEM Teacher Award

Nominate your favorite STEM teacher today!

The Portia Powell STEM Teacher Award offered by Bean Path is named in honor of our founder's eighth grade science teacher who introduced her to the world of engineering. Each year, we seek to honor a science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) teacher in the Jackson Public Schools (JPS) District.

 

This award is for teachers across the JPS district who demonstrate their dedication to STEM education by providing excellent curriculum, encouraging lifelong learning and inspiring a passion for STEM beyond the classroom and into the future. The recipient will receive $250 for personal use, as well as another $250 to be used in their classroom. If you know of an outstanding teacher that meets one of the following criteria, please nominate them below.

 

ELIGIBILITY:

  • US citizen.

  • Currently teaching in Jackson Public Schools in Jackson, Mississippi for at least 2 years

  • Licensed, full-time, K-12 grade STEM educator

  • Unrelated to any Bean Path employees

  • Not a former recipient of Portia Powell STEM Teacher Award

  • Self-nominations will not be accepted


The deadline for you to submit nominations has been extended to October 5, 2022. Recipient(s) will be announced and presented with their award(s) at our anniversary event on October 8, 2022.
