Bean Path has partnered with the FCC to help provide more affordable internet service to the Hinds County community. On September 9, 2023, The Bean Path will host an event to sign up households in Hinds County for the Affordable Connectivity Program to receive discounts for internet services.
The Affordable Connectivity Program is an FCC benefit program that helps ensure households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare, and more.
The benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.
The Affordable Connectivity Program is limited to one monthly service discount and one device discount per household.
Who is eligible for the Affordable Connectivity Program?
A household is eligible for the Affordable Connectivity Program if the household income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, or if a member of the household meets at least one of the criteria below:

Received a Federal Pell Grant during the current award year;

Meets the eligibility criteria for a participating provider's existing low-income internet program;

Participates in one of these assistance programs:

Free and Reduced-Price School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program, including at U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Community Eligibility Provision schools.

SNAP
-
Medicaid
-
Federal Housing Assistance, including:

Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program (Section 8 Vouchers)

Project-Based Rental Assistance (PBRA)/Section 202/ Section 811

Public Housing
-
Affordable Housing Programs for American Indians, Alaska Natives or Native Hawaiians

Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

WIC
-
Veterans Pension or Survivor Benefits or Lifeline;

What are the program benefits?

Service discount up to $30/month
-
Service discount up to $75/month on qualifying Tribal lands

Device discount up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer (with a co-payment of more than $10 but less than $50)
* Only one monthly service discount and one device discount is allowed per household. Not every internet company offers device discounts.
What documents do I need?
You may need to provide documents to confirm your eligibility, identity, or address. One of these documents will suffice:

Your prior year’s state, federal, or Tribal tax return.

Current annual income statement from your job.

A Social Security statement of benefits.

An unemployment or worker’s compensation statement of benefits.

A Federal or Tribal notice letter of participation in General
Assistance. -
A Divorce Decree or child support award.

An official document with a date in the last 12 months that shows
your annual income. Or official documents showing your income for three months in a row. This could be pay stubs that have dates within the last 12 months.
Provide documents that include:

3. An issue date within the last 12 months
