Who is the Bean Path?
The Bean Path is a 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to create equity in STEAM opportunities by increasing access to tools, knowledge and networks to underserved communities, particularly in Mississippi. Initiatives include speaker series, free tech consultations, engineering and coding programs for youth, and scholarships/grants for students and community organizations. The Bean Path’s headquarters is The Makerspace. The Makerspace is a 6,500 sq. ft. facility where local creators can design and execute their own projects with expert guidance and best-in-class equipment.
Older Adults (50+) Programming
Bean Path and Older Adults Technology Services (OATS), a third party company of AARP, are partnering to provide technology classes to citizens 50 years or older. Through OATS curriculum, training and support the program helps seniors with digital access.
Senior Tech Program Trainers
Job Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and patient Senior Tech Trainers (5 positions) to empower senior citizens in embracing the digital world. As a Senior Tech Trainer, you will play a crucial role in fostering digital skills, confidence, and independence among older adults. The ideal candidate does NOT have to tech experience or be a tech expert. We will provide full training and ongoing support. We do ask that potential candidates have excellent communication skills and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of seniors. No prior experience required. No age restrictions.​
Qualifications:

Commit to attending five virtual trainings over five weeks.

Teach at least one morning a week (in person).

Attend occasional team meetings.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a simple, understandable manner.

Patience and empathy, particularly in working with individuals who may have limited prior exposure to technology.

Familiarity with the needs and challenges of senior citizens in the digital realm.

Ability to adapt training approaches based on individual learning styles.
